Nearly every radiological test requires some degree of preparation on the
patient's part to ensure the most accurate results.
| Computed Tomography |
Nothing by mouth for 3 hours before the examination. You can pick up oral
contrast on the business day before your examination and drink it 3 hours
before the examination. |
| MRCP |
Nothing by mouth for 3 hours before the examination. |
| Ultrasound |
For all ultrasounds of your abdomen, you should have nothing by mouth for
4 before the examination.
For pelvic ultrasounds we require a full bladder. Please consume 32 ounces
of water 1 hour before the examination. |
| Mammography |
Before the examination, do not wear deodorant, talcum powder or lotion
under your arms. Bring your prior mammography films for comparison. |
| Barium Enema |
Please pick up your preparation on the business day prior to your examination. |
| Upper GI |
Nothing by mouth after midnight. |
| Bone Density |
No preparation. |
